Member of Science
Position Description
As a member of Science, you will deal with the search for sources that are likely to be observable with our radio telescope, as well as how the data we get will be properly analyzed to produce valid results. You will work with the members of the other subsystems to help them where physics details are needed to achieve the final correct result for our radio telescope.
Responsibilities
- A lot of studying and understanding of the basic theory of Radioastronomy
- Search of likely observable sources and the theory behind them
- Analyze data from the web (at first) using physics and present the procedure
- Study the results and draw conclusions (mainly after the construction of the radio telescope)
- Collaboration with the rest of the team in the design of the radio telescope, specifically on the features we need the radio telescope to have, so that we finally get the right data
- Contribution to the visual representation and promotion of the team at events and exhibitions
Skills You Will Develop
- You will acquire enough knowledge about Astronomy, even more about Radio Astronomy
- You will learn to search and filter information, as well as to compose it nicely in a document
- You will come into contact with real data analysis and extracting results of natural significance
- You will practice transmitting physics knowledge in a simple way so that it can be understood by everyone
- You will learn to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
- You will develop the ability to communicate your thoughts and discuss them with other members
This position is ideal for people who would like to get involved in Radio Astronomy and have an initial exposure to a radio telescope.
